Making an impact together
Comics and Books Rescue for Kids Foundation is a charitable organization that provides free comic books, activity books, and novels to hospitalized children. We are an initiative to promote imagination, self-esteem, courage, and literacy to hospitalized children one book at a time! Children have been dealing with more physical and mental health issues since the pandemic began in 2020. The sudden disruption to their lives has had a detrimental impact on their educational and social growth. In our home city of Denver, elementary students have fallen below their grade reading level at an alarming rate. With your help, our charity can make a difference in the fight for their future success.
“Where there’s a child in need, we’ll provide a book to read.”
On average, the Children’s Hospital Colorado will receive at least 15,000 inpatient admissions and at least 600,000 outpatient visits in one year. According to their data, in 2019, 2.2% of those inpatient children were there for mental health reasons like major depression, or a single episode event. Between January and May of 2021, behavioral health emergency department visits across the entire Children’s Hospital Colorado health system increased by 73% compared to the same time period in 2019.
